Executive Producer/Michael J. Kearns

Michael J. Kearns is a fifth generation Irish Catholic from Salt Lake City. Previous to making documentary’s he was a newspaper and magazine publisher. Mr. Kearns spent almost 20 years in New York in the advertising and publishing industry. He has worked for or been associated with several magazine start-ups, including the team that launched the highly successful Conde Nast Traveler magazine and was an Associate Publisher for ‘Custom Magazine Publishing’ at Hachette Fillipachi Magazines. Later he was the managing director at a Madison Avenue marketing firm which he founded until moving back to Salt Lake City.

Mr. Kearns was also an owner of the Kearns-Tribune Corp., a media company that owned The Salt Lake Tribune, three other newspapers in the West and an owner of cable giant TCI. The company merged with TCI in 1997. Kearns was the publisher and founder of the Salt Lake Observer newspaper, the award-winning Utah Homes & Garden and architectureUTAH magazines. In addition he owned the Wasatch Country Courier and South Valley Voice community newspapers. He is the great-grandson of U.S. Senator Thomas Kearns, mining & railroad magnate and newspaper publisher. Mr. Kearns lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and son.

Executive Producer/Miriam Clare Kearns

Miriam Clare Kearns is an award winning magazine editor who was born in Vancouver, B.C. and grew up outside of London, England. Her father, the president of an international mining company, moved the family to Colorado when she was a girl. After college, Ms. Kearns moved to New York City and started a career in the fashion industry that began with Polo-Ralph Lauren. She was the national sales director for Alexander Julian Collection and later became the director of sales & marketing in the U.S. for French couture designer Thierry Mugler. Spending most of her time in New York and Paris, Ms. Kearns not only significantly increased Muglers U.S. couture business, but helped the international designer produce the first VH-1 Music & Fashion Awards. The Thierry Mugler fragrance line, Angel, was one of the most successful launches in the fragrance industry.

In Utah, Ms. Kearns was a board member of the Salt Lake Observer and co-founder of the award-winning magazines, Utah Homes & Garden and architectureUTAH magazines. She is also the host and executive producer of the Utah Homes & Garden television show. She has twice been named Magazine Editor of the Year and Best Magazine from the Utah-Society of Professional Journalists, won two “Maggies’ for Best Overall Design from the Western Publishers Association, a national ‘Ozzie’ for editorial excellence in addition to other numerous awards for editorial excellence. She is a past president of the Utah - American Parkinson’s Disease Association, and has served on several boards for the arts in Utah. She lives in Utah with her husband and son.
